ConBI prototype is ready! It aims at developing a smart, cost-efficient, small scale cogeneration (CHP) system characterized by high fuel flexibility, thermal and electrical efficiency. It is composed by an externally fired topping gas turbine, a boiler, a fluidized bed combustion device for biomass and a natural gas combustion system.
The ConBI system is developed, adapting and integrating components already available on the market, mainly coming from the automotive industry to produce an innovative low cost, flexible and reliable micro-CHP system. The fluidized bed combustor option allows the use of solid renewable fuels such as biomass.
The ConBi system will:
- provide a low cost, low-carbon, fuel flexible packaged CHP system;
- contribute at reducing energy consumption and carbon footprint increasing the energy efficiency of the industrial process.
Ordine degli Ingegneri di Bari, in cooperation with ICMEA, set up a workshop entitled: Energy efficiency: strategy, tools, opportunities. The workshop will take place in Corato (Ba), on 7 December 2016 at the Executive Center – Strada provinciale 231.
S.R. Transformer is built by ICMEA’s engineers. It is an energy recovery from residual steam of industrial process with the use of lightweight industrial turbine.
It enables energy recovery in all the processes with steam pressure regulators. The system can be easily installed instead of / in paraller to the existing reducers or regulators.

Research & Development is a key factor for renewables energy. Politecnico di Bari is a leader in the field of renewables and ICMEA is helping them in keeping their leadership.
Small scale wind turbines, are very promising and requires studies to increase the efficiency and reliability.
ICMEA has manufactured a not confined wind tunnel, which will allow to measure the performance of the wind turbines controlling the velocity of the wind by means of frequency converter driven fans and measuring. The wind velocity vector in the field and the pressure on the blades can also be measured.

The ICMEA catalogue is now available!
The activities about the Wind Turbine are moving forward. The wind tunnel structural part is done: it was build the fans holder and the pole which support the wind turbine.
ICMEA takes care of design, so all metal components have been painted with ferromicaceo, enamel with excellent anticorrosive properties based on alkyd binder, micaceous iron oxides and lamellar pigments. It gaves an attractive desing and protects metal.
The ventilators and blade were delivered to ICMEA and they’re prepared for mounting.
ICMEA just assembling electrical switchboards and framework for the experimental Wind Tunnel plant. Is also expected that will be mounted the structural part by the end of July 2016.
ICMEA is ready for the 11° Renewable Energy 2016 International
Conference & Exhibition, will take place in Yokohama from 29 June to 01 July 2016. The international event, organised by Japan Council for Renewable Energy, is one of the main events in renewable energy sector in Japan and is held in conjunction with “PV Japan”.
The renewable energy industry is currently undergoing a strong growth in Japan under the new Japanese energy policy, following the Fukushima nuclear disaster, it has set itself the objective to minimize the weight of nuclear power as a source of energy supply. The Council for Energy and the Environment of the Japanese Government, in 2012, has approved the document “Strategy of Innovative Energy and Environment” which provides for the gradual withdrawal from nuclear power in Japan within the decade 2030-2040 and the implementation of a series of policies aimed at achieving, over the decade, the production of electricity from fossil fuels of 65-70% and 30-35% from renewable sources.
Thanks to its great experience in the field of innovation and renewable technologies, ICMEA take part to this initiative with a stand and through participation to ICE’s workshop.

ICMEA took part in Zero Emission Research Option project and is developing a facility for testing wind turbines in open environment. The plant is composed by a set of blowers mounted on a metal structure, able to produce a controlled air flow.
The plant will be flexible and effective, especially in controlling the air flow rate. The system will allow to measure the wind turbine performance as a function of the wind generated by the blowers.
The Plant is designed to stand static and dynamic operating loads, as well as the environmental actions.
The test plant is equipped with a set of sensors able to measure the turbine performance and the wind velocity and pressure.
The pyrolysis syngas cleaning system designed and manufactured by ICMEA is ready to be shipped to Lebanon. ICMEA as always ensures speed and quality in design and manufacturing, working side by side with the customer.
